Sailing La Vagabonde Chooses B and G

B&G is proud to have been chosen by Australian adventurers Sailing La Vagabonde to supply charting, sonar, autopilot, and instrumentation solutions for the pair’s 43-foot Beneteau Cyclades yacht. Currently the top sailing channel on YouTube with over 158,000 subscribers and 14.1 million views, Sailing La Vagabonde is the creation of amateur sailors Riley and Elayna and documents the pair’s inspirational attempt to circumnavigate the globe.

La Vagabonde’s new electronics include the B&G Vulcan 7 FS sailing chartplotter with 7-inch display and integrated GPS; ForwardScan™ forward-looking sonar transducer; dual B&G Triton™ digital instrument displays; speed, depth, and wind sensors; B&G Triton™ autopilot pack; Precision-9 solid-state compass; and other supporting hardware.

“We chose B&G because we had heard from other cruisers that the forward scanning feature was amazing!” explains Riley.

B&G’s award-winning ForwardScan™ technology offers a forward-looking sonar view of up to eight times a vessel’s current depth, helping to reduce the risk of grounding in shallow or poorly-charted waters. The system is ideal for global adventurers such as the crew of La Vagabonde, who are constantly facing new challenges in unfamiliar locations.

Ease of use was another key consideration; as Riley and Elayna are constantly expanding their sailing knowledge, they needed electronics that would help rather than hinder their progress.

Ease of installation and the ability to integrate seamlessly with existing systems over NMEA 2000® were also important to minimise installation costs and limit interruptions to the travelling duo’s journey. B&G reliability means the pair can trust their electronics in the unforgiving conditions of the open ocean, while a global service and support network means help is always available.
